    Teen pregnancy has a significant impact on a teenager's education, as well as the goals she sets for herself. Parental involvement is sometimes neglected by adolescents when it comes to deciding whether abortion is the right choice. Most teenagers have the option of having an abortion without their parents' permission, as some states consider a pregnant teenager to be an adult. When states treat a pregnant teenager as an adult, the teenager has the power to make her own decisions. One of the reasons why abortion is a procedure chosen by young adults is to further their education and benefit from an ideal career in the future. Teenagers have a hard time taking care of themselves when they go to school, let alone add a child to the scenario. They realize they are unprepared and too immature for a life of caring for another human being. The abortion process is a procedure that adolescent girls have access to, without parental involvement, to continue their education without having a dysfunctional future. Adolescents may choose to have an abortion for several reasons. Before any action, adolescents must have access to this procedure. Within the medical community, there is broad support for minors' access to abortion services. A survey of American physicians who were members of the Society for Adolescent Medicine found that pediatricians were overwhelmingly (96%) in favor of providing adolescents with access to abortion in certain circumstances (Miller, Miller, & Pinkston Koenigs, 1998).
