Illegal use of a person's position while in power leads to multiple problems with the current government. The corrupt methods used by politicians are ideas strictly implemented for their personal gain. Present throughout history and still prevalent in today's world, government corruption has consisted of a number of negative issues, including corruption, economic and social impacts, and abuse of power. The role of government in daily life has been shown to have negative effects, as shown in many aspects of life as well as in literature. Corruption can be defined as being offered money or other inducement for the purpose of corrupting a person's actions. is the main component, if not the basis, of government corruption. Payments to officials often come into play so that people can receive what they want, causing many negative effects. “The high cost of dealing with officials through corruption incentivizes many businesses to exploit the informal sector and many others to underreport their sales, costs, and wages to authorities” (Rose-Ackerman 24) . The negative consequence of bribery was that companies had to lie to cover up their bribes. Bribes are also linked to personal gain and lack of certain benefits. These bribes can be as simple as cash or a larger benefit like an expensive item. The bigger the advantage, the bigger the bribe ends up being. Other benefits include electoral rights. Politicians will pay to get voters to vote for them when they feel behind in races. In Hindustan, "AAP candidate Ashutosh on Wednesday alleged that his rival and Congress candidate Kapil Sibal was bribing voters in Delhi's Chandni Chowk constituency" (AAP's Ashutosh accuses Sibal of voter corruption).
