When denied access, the addict will suffer from withdrawal. He or she may feel real physical pain, discomfort, or uncontrollable feelings of anxiety. Addicts are willing to give up other things to indulge their addiction, sometimes to the point of self-destruction. They may lose family, friends, or even jobs in their quest to satisfy their addiction.
