As we know, many violent crimes are gun-related. Gun violence is quite common among Americans. Some gun violence has led to significant events, such as the deaths of Senator Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King. According to Kellerman, Rivara, Somes, Reay, Francisco, Banton, Prodzinski, Fligner, and Hackman (1992), each year, more than 29,000 Americans commit suicide and suicide rates continue to increase. More people commit suicide with guns than with other methods. Each year, “approximately 400 American children die needlessly and more than 3,500 are injured due to unintentional firearm injuries” (Glatt, 2005).
