    As we know, many violent crimes are gun-related. Gun violence is quite common among Americans. Some gun violence has led to significant events, such as the deaths of Senator Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King. According to Kellerman, Rivara, Somes, Reay, Francisco, Banton, Prodzinski, Fligner, and Hackman (1992), each year, more than 29,000 Americans commit suicide and suicide rates continue to increase. More people commit suicide with guns than with other methods. Each year, “approximately 400 American children die needlessly and more than 3,500 are injured due to unintentional firearm injuries” (Glatt, 2005). According to Hahn, Bilukha, Crosby, Fullilove, Liberman, Moscicki, Snyder, Tuma & Briss (2005), although rates of gun violence in the United States have declined since 1993, it was still the second leading cause of injury deaths in 2001. The research paper will clarify gun control and violence in the United States by answering the following questions:1. Why is gun control such a difficult issue in American politics?2. What is the relationship between guns and violence?3. What are the gun control laws in the United States? Through gun culture, politics, violence, and actions, this research paper will elucidate the relationship between guns and violence and the importance and necessity of gun control.Why Has gun control been such a difficult issue in American politics?
