America's Downward SpiralIn recent years, the United States economy has been plunged into what most consider to be a recession. Americans react differently to a recession. Some, like Michael Moore, believe it becomes a downward spiral as big corporations and their shareholders gain more money and power, and their workers gain less money and stability. With a loss of stability for the American worker, there is a fear of losing their health benefits, Social Security, retirement plan and, most importantly, their job. Moore's response to this major corporate takeover was to create several documentaries, Roger and Me, Pets or Meat: The Return to Flint, and The Big One. Along with Moore's response to this recession, several authors printed articles describing such things as: downward mobility, savagery, starvation, poverty, and homelessness. In Moore's documentaries, he targeted major tycoons such as GM's Roger Smith, Nike's Phil Knight, and companies like Johnson Controls. All of these companies have something in common: greed and money! He dug up the facts about it all...
