    The factory system, which developed during the Industrial Revolution, had a significant impact on society and the way of life of English citizens . Beginning in 1760, many people were forced to move from their farms outside major cities to settlements within cities. Farm owners closed their land and it was no longer available for rental, causing many workers to lose their jobs. The development of water-powered machines, such as the spinning jenny and water frame, made the weaving and spinning process more complex. fabric easier and faster. With these technologies, the textile industry flourished and factory owners became very wealthy by forcing workers to work long hours for low wages. Their low wages did not allow them to live comfortably, which meant that many people had to live in overcrowded and unsanitary buildings. Not only did these factory workers have poor living conditions, but working conditions in the factories were dangerous, especially for children. Life in England changed significantly during the Industrial Revolution and citizens' opinions were altered. After leaving the countryside for the city, workers had to adapt to the new demanding work rhythm. Factory owners needed a more disciplined workspace than the farm workers were accustomed to, and they were no longer their own bosses. Factory owners fined their workers if they left work early to return to the village for a festival or gathering, as this disrupted the flow of other workers. Most workers worked six days a week, fourteen hours a day, with no paid holidays or vacations. Even on Sundays, working children had to clean machines and attend religious services.
