After college, I moved back to the Bay Area. It was my junior year in high school when I took my first Advanced Placement (AP) class and I got the surprise of my life. I took the course, not because I wanted to, but because it was required of me. It was in this class that I was assigned a teacher who exceeded the standards of a great teacher. From the beginning of the course, he worked to build some sort of relationship with each individual in the class. We were encouraged to create a sense of community within the class. This sense of community allowed us as students to learn from each other and created a feeling of importance in the classroom. This teacher showed me that we all have something to offer.
