Essay / Essay on Importance of Education for Sustainable Development
Education is an essential tool that provides all possible knowledge to human beings. After many years of globalization, people around the world began to realize that economic development trends were no longer sustainable, and many therefore perceived that education was the key to moving society towards sustainability . Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is the key to sustainable development because education equips everyone with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values needed to shape the future in a more sustainable way. ESD is defined as approaching education in a more holistic manner with the vision of “creating a better world for future generations of all living beings”. However, many argue that education is not a reliable source based on the concept of sustainability. Many people have different views on sustainable societies, different definitions of the word “sustainable” and whether or not it is achievable. The lack of consensus and definition has hampered efforts to bring education closer to a sustainable society. One of the main objectives here is to educate the younger generation by developing a sense of responsibility towards the environment. To the extent that young people are at the heart of tomorrow's sustainable development, whether it is achieved or not, everything depends on them. Sustainable development education is capable of cultivating the mindset of young people by inducing the concept of living a sustainable lifestyle. This not only helps children promote sustainable living but also allows them to be more socially conscious about the environment. For all of us, ESD is not just about being environmentally friendly; this also includes the development of various personal skills such as leadership, middle of paper, sustainability. It can be argued that only green (non-green) politicians or parties have a real understanding of the different dimensions of sustainability and their political implications. Clearly, both politics and education are important for sustainable development and awareness of understanding the different meanings of sustainability should be carried out from a young age. In conclusion, education for sustainable development can help shape our future. With the continued support of the government, appropriate laws and responsible action by society will together serve and alleviate the major global crises we face today. The consequences would be disastrous if individuals did not consider this a critical problem. What will be left for our future generation if we do not reserve our limited resources? Are they able to find new sustainable natural resources? I hardly doubt it.
