    Theodore Roosevelt was one of our greatest presidents. He created the FDA and greatly improved the position of the presidency. Before Theodore became president, the presidency was slow and unexciting. He therefore strengthened the executive power by launching new reforms and a strong foreign policy. The life of a president is hard. It's full of stress, responsibilities and a strong dedication to the well-being of your country. Theodore had to deal with all these presidential stresses, taking up a lot of his time. Did you know, however, that although he was president, he led a life of excitement and freedom that many other presidents had never experienced before? Theodore, “Teddy” as his first wife Alice called him, Roosevelt was more than our president, he was a dedicated author who wrote many books; he was also a rancher and, surprisingly, he was a great hunter. Even though Theodore Roosevelt was president, his life was filled with exciting adventures, difficult times, responsibilities to many, and influence over many government positions. Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858 in New York, to Theodore Roosevelt Sr.. and Martha Roosevelt (United States. National Park Service. History: Theodore Roosevelt: Life). As a child, Teddy suffered from "acute" asthma, his eyesight was horrible, he had to wear thick glasses his entire life, and his physical stature was small and frail (Teddy Roosevelt). His father advised Teddy to devote himself to fitness. Following his father's advice, Teddy soon began to develop a muscular figure and his asthma and frailty bothered him less and less (Teddy Roosevelt).
