Essay / Gender Differences in Text Messaging - 603
In Hilary Lips' book (2008), she examined and showed the differences in all aspects of life based on gender. Whether it be characteristics, from a biological point of view or simply using or playing with toys. Therefore, there will be a gender difference in text messaging. One gender will use it more, text differently, or even use it more often than the other. The purpose of this study is to determine gender differences in text messaging. To achieve this, we conducted surveys among different genders and age groups. Our results indicated that the sexes exhibit differences in text messaging, as well as similarities. Men and women both use it and text messaging as a last resort, but men send fewer text messages than women, men find it better to communicate via text messaging than women, women tend to to receive their first cell phone earlier than men and owned more cell phones than men. They also mention that mobile technology has quickly become an essential communication tool (Morril, Jones and Vaterlaus, 2013, p. 1). One of the most popular and widely used features on cell phones around the world today is texting, rather than calling. Both genders tend to use this feature on the cell phone, especially the younger generation. Text messaging has grown over the years and has many widespread uses across gender lines. According to the article by Rebecca Grinter and Margery Eldridge (2003), they define text messaging as sending SMS messages using a mobile phone to send a text, an act of composing and sending... ... in the middle of a sheet ...... to simply read "Merry Christmas".
