For example, Hermia is in love with Lysander even though she is in love with Lysander. Hermia's father, Egeus, wants her to marry Demetrius. This puts her in somewhat of a blind spot, because if she disobeys her father Aegeus, she will be exiled and could even be sentenced to death. Hermina talks about it to her friend Helena who happens to be Demetrius' ex-fiancée. Hermia tells Demetrius with the hope that she will fall in love with her again. When the time had come for Lysander and Hermina to escape, Demetrius ran into the woods after them in the hope of finding them. Theseus and Hippolyte then discover that they are all in the forest.
