  • Essay / Reflection for the day of care and the day of service

Since declaring my interest in health sciences, I intended to pursue and complete my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. However, because SAMU did not offer my level of choice, they placed me in what they claimed was the closest program they had. Right now, I don't know if I will complete my AAS with the HES or if I will take the steps I need to pursue my BSN. I want to improve myself not only with the knowledge necessary to pursue a rewarding career, but also to become a more informed and active participant in society. I plan to maintain my work ethic long after graduation and remain loyal to my Alaskan community by working strictly within the state. I consistently exceed my expectations of myself and I intend to extol those same qualities as I continue to move forward. From there, any financial support I may receive will not only be an investment in me, but also an investment in Alaska.
