There are many causes of gun violence depending on different people and how they view guns in America. There are two main causes that affect gun violence: pop culture and poor parenting. According to the PoliceOne Gun Control Survey, “children today are more prone to violence because of violent video games and films.” Many video games such as Kindergarten Killer, available online for years, consist of a janitor killing children by shooting them in the head and seeing how many points you can get to complete the game. Last year , a man entered an elementary school and shot 26 people, including children. Violence in video games and media has not been properly portrayed as a bad thing. It's more praised. Additionally, people on parole should not have parents in their children's lives. On the contrary, if it is a single-parent home or a home with two parents, they do not participate sufficiently in their children's lives. According to the PoliceOne Gun investigation, “In today's world, where both parents work, there is no family time to teach, to learn, to love. If parents do not show their children that they love and are cherished, how can that child grow up and show love to any other person? When you don't care whether the person in front of you, next to you, or behind you is alive or dies, it's pretty easy to pull the trigger. Many parents are so busy trying to provide for themselves that they don't understand that the most important part of raising a child is being in their life teaching them how to treat people well and how to show this child his love. For example, where I come from there is more gang violence than anything else. A child barely twelve years old is running around swearing, being disrespectful and looking for an adult role model who happens to be someone who is affiliated with a gang... middle of paper... ...he cannot even understand what the law means. So I think the steps taken are going in the right direction. I believe gun violence can be reduced in the United States in three steps: more restrictions on gun control, more tracking of gun owners, and more security. There are many gun stores that are not closely monitored by the government. The government or private company supplying the weapons must know how many weapons (type) they are giving to a specific gun store and the restrictions on who can obtain them. This way it will be easier to know who the guns are being sold to and if the store is selling illegal products. Finally, there needs to be more security in schools and more frequent checks of lockers. There are too many school shootings that could have been prevented today. I don't believe my three measures will end gun violence, but they would reduce it.
