    The Birth of the Modern United StatesLooking back in history, we can surely say that there have indeed been many great and devastating events that have written the novel of American history. But there is certainly a turning point in time that made America what it is today. It was not a world war, but rather a war between brothers and states to preserve the nature of union and the unity of the nation. It was civil war. Although much devastation; both human and financial, the Civil War changed the course of our nation to become the United States of America we live in today. The entire cause of the Civil War has been argued through many viewpoints and opinions. Whether because of the secessionist desires of the Confederacy or the rebellions aimed at giving freedom to blacks; what mattered most was the final goal of the Union fight and victory. If the North had not won the war, it is almost certain that life for North Americans would have been different. It took the addition of the new Constitution, the supreme law of the land, to ensure that the ideals of the South could legally coexist with those of the North. Many amendments made to this new Constitution constitute milestones in the creation of the United States. There were a few directly caused by the civil war.
