  • Essay / Water conservation and water conservation - 1143

The lack of fresh water and the increasing pollution of water bodies are becoming limiting factors in the economic and social development of many countries around the world . California, for example, needs water from sources miles from home. As a result, their water conservation strategy is to reduce carbon emissions and benefit human health. In some cases, Californians have had to reduce their water consumption by more than 31% (Ian, 2015). It was mandatory to do so so that they understand the importance of water conservation. To survive during the period when they were not allowed to use water, they were provided with gallons of water. The amount of fresh water used by humans is estimated to be 0.7% (The Gale Group, 2008). This small amount of available fresh water is recycled and purified by the action of the hydrological cycle. These processes include evaporation, condensation, precipitation and percolation through the soil. To reduce water consumption and implement water conservation strategies, a health impact assessment was implemented in California (Sharona et al, 2016). There are many things that can be done when it comes to water conservation, but even a simple measure that will increase water safety and minimize harm to health is still necessary. This includes water reuse and household water reduction, by not exceeding water consumption in the shower, kitchen, garden, etc. Being aware of these issues will also help with water management.
