Essay / An Analysis of Mary Fisher's "Whisper Of AIDS"
Mary Fisher added importance to the subject of AIDS by being HIV positive herself and proving to the public that anyone is capable of contracting it. In her speech, she also uses the three rhetorical appeals ethos, logos and pathos to convince her audience. Considering the audience was a Republican party that aimed to improve the nation's next generations, the speech was effective in raising awareness. Mary Fisher gives courage to those who have contracted HIV to believe that just because they have the disease does not mean their life is a ticking time bomb. She still hopes that her speech, “Whisper of AIDS,” will advise people around the world to raise awareness to stop the spread of this horrible disease..
