Nursing is considered the heart of the medical profession because of its importance and I want to be a part of it. During the internship, I was aware of user service behaviors due to my experience over time. I believe I was able to develop skills of integrity and my sense of insight. These are very important skills for nurses to have. For example, when interacting with service users as part of my health and social care course, I was able to get a first insight into the routine of the place as I learned about important topics such as dementia and safeguarding . I was able to effectively put theory into practice. In terms of insight, I saw the fundamentals of nursing and gained a clear understanding of clear conduct and what is expected as a nurse's role. I was able to develop my sense of insight by developing my level of understanding related to empathy towards patients and by stepping back and seeing the bigger picture. I also know that I handle high pressure situations and situations that require great resilience well. An example of this includes being in placement with a patient where they become agitated and troubled. I know what to do and how to de-escalate the situation by putting the patients' needs first, in a safe and well-mannered manner. Here I learned the importance of de-escalation and engaging as effectively as possible with the patient. I am confident that I work independently and demonstrate initiative in situations where I find myself alone. Staff commented on my maturity and compassion and my ability to always show empathy. These are key skills that a nurse must possess, and I believe that the key skills and qualities that I possess will help me study and become a competent registered adult nurse. I was also able to develop my leadership skills, which is also a very important quality for a nurse to possess. An example of this is that I was able to carry out activities with all the patients without the help of the activity coordinator in whom she trusted me completely. I felt like I was taking charge and was confident in carrying out many activities with the residents. From there, I was able to understand why leadership is so important. I am familiar with the NMC Code and vision for training future nurses and believe that by following it carefully it can support the delivery of high quality person centered care when still practicing. During the Covid 19 pandemic. I wanted to continue developing my skills and had a desire to help my community in any way I could. So I was able to volunteer at a local charity shop. Here, I was able to develop my interpersonal skills and I was able to grow as a person. I really enjoyed this role and helping. I was able to help maintain the appearance of the store and help organize donations.
