Essay / Literary Luminaries and English Vocabulary - 1891
The intention of this article is to present a comprehensive reading of the literary luminaries who contributed to the stock of English vocabulary. The English language has the most enriched vocabulary in the world. It is famous for its derivative, assimilative, structural and flexible characteristics. The English have an inquisitive mind and they add to their stock what they find essential to them. I will therefore show the debt of the English language to the great luminaries. It has the influence of foreign vocabulary. The English language can be called a language of massive efforts and it is a collage. He was influenced and also influenced several languages. Literature and linguistic aesthetics are two phases of the same article, one without the other has no value. English luminaries not only created great works, but also enriched its vocabulary. English is a living and growing language. English vocabulary is so rich because of its digestive, assimilative, inventive and derivative features. He assimilated words and phraseology from Greek, Latin, French, Scandinavian, Hindi, Urdu and American dialects. Not only did he assimilate, but he made everything his own. From time to time, essayists, poets, novelists, philosophers, scientists and thinkers have added to its treasury with words and phrases. He deleted, replaced and modified a large number of words. It is remarkable how a dialect has become an international language. It has become the language of international communication and business. During the period of Old English (450-1150), Middle English (1150-1500), and Modern English (1500-1945), a large number of words were borrowed from French, Latin, and Celtic civilization and other foreign languages; if we talk about its loans...... middle of paper...... only England but also the whole world. Modern English vocabulary is the wealth of vocabulary of the world. Several words came out like jungle, curry, coolie, pandit, bungalow, lathi, etc. They ruled India for a long time. They influenced and were influenced by Indian culture, language and various dialects and sensibilities. To conclude, we can say that English is an international language whose vocabulary is so enriched and prosperous. It has become an indistinguishable part of our daily communication. India, like developing countries, does its official work in English. In India, English has been recognized as a second language and is used as a second language. Works Cited McCrum, R. etal. 1986.
