We don't realize the value of the things we have in our lives, we take them for granted. Sara Teasdale, modern poet, reminds us of this in several of her poems. She was skilled at creating three main techniques which are imagery metaphors and similes. Unfortunately, Teasdale didn't have a very pleasant life; she ended it by committing suicide. But his magnificent work, a source of inspiration, is still alive today. Sara Trevor Teasdale was born in 1884 in St. Louis, Missouri. Sara Teasdale is named after her grandmother. She was the youngest child of Mary Elizabeth Willard and John Warren Teasdale. At the time of Sara's birth, her mother, Mary, was forty years old and her father John was 45 years old. Teasdale had both brothers from three other siblings; George, John Warren Jr and his sister Mary. Mary often took care of Sara and loved her very much. According to Teasdale's mother, her first word was "pretty." Sara's love of pretty things inspired her poetry. According to Britannica, she wrote excellent, pure, heartfelt lyrics in conventional verse forms like quatrains or sonnets ("Sara Teasdale"). Flame and Shadow, Darkness of the Moon and Stars Tonight was nevertheless evident that Teasdale was showing growth as a poet. At the age of fifteen, she was sent to Hosmer Hall, where she began putting her talent to paper. Teasdale first published the poem "Reedy's Mirror", which was an actual newspaper in St Louis. Ernst Filsinger was married in Teasdale in 1914. They had a happy marriage, but it was too good to be true. They divorced in 1929, due to Teasdale's loneliness; Filsinger was often absent because of his business. In 1929, she moved for three months to obtain a divorce. A final Strange Victory published in 1933 following Teasdale's suicide earlier that year. She was very inspiring and talked about life and how you should always try to do your best.
