Essay / Developmental Theorists: Thomas Berry Brazelton
T-Berry Brazelton (Thomas Berry Brazelton) is a well-known pediatrician, author, and clinical professor emeritus of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He was born on May 10, 1918 and is still alive at the age of 96. He was born in Waco, Texas, to Thomas Berry Brazelton and Pauline (Battle) Brazelton. Brazelton wanted to become a pediatrician from a young age. He used to babysit children as a little boy at family gatherings and parties. After babysitting, he knew he wanted to become a pediatrician by 6th grade, leaving behind his other choice or career of becoming a veterinarian. Brazelton attended many schools throughout his life. He attended a prep school in Alexandria, Virginia (Episcopal High School), after which he attended Princeton University in New Jersey, completing the pre-medical program. While at Princeton, he enjoyed performing in a number of university theater productions. Brazelton then considered accepting a role on Broadway. However, his parents didn't like the idea of him accepting the role on Broadway. His parents told him that if he wanted them to finance his medical studies in the future, he should focus on his pre-med studies. With an offer like Brazelton's, he followed his parents' advice, leaving Broadway behind and focusing on pre-medical school. Brazelton received his AB from Princeton in 1940, then went on to earn his MD from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University in New York. After that, he did his internship at Columbia University, Roosevelt Hospital. He then served for a year in the United States Naval Reserve. In 1945, Brazelton began a medical residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. His training as a pediatrician began in...... middle of paper ......tals. You could say he's a very lucky person because many pediatricians don't go that far with their theories. Works Cited Our Founder. (nd). Brazelton Touchpoint Center.
