Essay / Timothy Treadwell: Clinically Insane - 1092
Many people visit parks to see the animals. They will encounter many animals, snakes, birds, insects and sometimes a bear. Many people would run away to safety without trying to talk to them or touch them. Timothy Treadwell is someone who has touched the bears many times and even played with the cubs. He was a bear enthusiast who wanted to protect them. He was filming a documentary in which he showed personality disorders, depression and attention deficit disorder. He was shown to have a disorder and to be clinically insane. Treadwell was killed by a grizzly bear in Alaska's Katmai National Park and Preserve at the age of 46 with his girlfriend. Treadwell made many trips to this location. He was making a documentary where he filmed himself ranting about the park system and how it was just trying to help grizzly bears. His love for animals came from a near-death heroin overdose. Treadwell believed he was part of the Grizzly Bear community. He thought he was on the same hierarchical level as the bears. This is proven by the way he interacted with animals. He talked to them, played with the little ones and also scolded them when they did something wrong (Grizzly Man). He didn't hesitate when he approached the bears and he called them all by name. He even brought foxes to his campsite. He yelled at one of them when he stole his hat and even chased him and scolded him. Also in an interview with David Letterman, he said that "it was important for the Bears to know that he fits into their hierarchy." He also ruled out the possibility of death during the interview. Letterman asked if it was possible for us to read about his death and he laughed and said no. He thought that since the bear... middle of paper ... prepared for all his adventures, he was declaiming on camera repeating himself, and even brought his girlfriend who was not prepared for his trip. All this proves that he was not of sound mind. Treadwell was in fact mentally unstable and if tested he would have been clinically insane. Works Cited "Bipolar Disorder - PubMed Health".
