  • Essay / The feminist movement and domestic violence - 655

Feminism has not changed today, but its orientation has changed. Today, many women enjoy good educational and employment opportunities, just like men, as early feminists fought for. Today, after achieving all this, men discriminate against them and sometimes abuse them in order to undermine their hard work and potential. Men do everything they can to undermine the successes women have achieved, but today's feminism struggles to protect women and girls from domestic violence, sexual harassment, rape and than discrimination. Today, the feminist movement has grown and continues to grow as women around the world unite in the fight against inequality. Even though a lot has changed, all feminists, despite the wave to which they claim to belong, are still fighting for the equality of women and men in the world. The feminist movement has come a long way and continues to grow as many women join the movements (Collins 178). Although many feminist demands have not been met, much has been accomplished and the fight continues. Over time, feminism has acquired a negative label in society. Society, especially men, views feminism as a fight by women for superiority over men. Furthermore, they view feminists as people who whine and complain about women who hate men. There are a lot of misinterpretations and ignorance about the cause of feminism, but it is here to stay and fight against the rights and comfort of women in society. Feminism changed the world and made women happier; therefore, it should not be perceived negatively in society. Feminism will always be necessary in today's society because even with laws aimed at protecting women, there is still violence against women.... middle of paper ..... has produced changes in modern society, including women's right to vote, fairer pay with men, the right to initiate divorce proceedings and where equity reigns, better access to education and the right to own property property, in addition to the right of women to make individual decisions regarding pregnancy and abortion. Today, feminist movements are still alive and well and continue to fight for women's rights. Feminists in the past achieved more rights and equality for women. Feminism is therefore a necessary value for women today and the fight is still relevant today. Works Cited Hooks, Bell. Feminist theory: from the margins to the center.
