  • Essay / Root causes of unsustainability - 848

Sustainable development refers to a mode of human development that aims to meet human needs while ensuring the sustainability of the economic, social and environmental systems of the current generation and generations to come. All countries in the world can benefit from this sustainability, including Lebanon. But unfortunately, the Lebanese do not exploit this opportunity, especially regarding the city where I come from, Jounieh. This lack of sustainability in my city is the result of several major causes. One of these causes is the overpopulation in Jounieh. This shocked overpopulation led to a sharp increase in the demand for food, which became more and more limited since, as we all know, no one can live without eating. The quantity of food is therefore gradually reduced. As a result, food unsustainability and food imbalance remain the major problems of this city, causing famine, poverty and malnutrition among many citizens. Overpopulation also affects the amount of water supplied. When a large number of people use water for drinking, agriculture, sanitation and in many other cases, there will definitely be water shortage, lack of availability of water. And as a result, some citizens died of thirst in previous years and others were forced to not take as many showers as before. Subsequently, many diseases began to spread among citizens. In addition, overpopulation with random civil organization, as in Jounieh, has negative effects linked to our health since the trees, carbon dioxide purifiers, are cut and negative effects linked to our financial situations as well, since it there is a significant increase in the cost of housing. And never forget middle of paper...climate change. Plants absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and use it to produce food and, in return, provide oxygen. After forests were destroyed and trees and plants were cut down, carbon dioxide remained in the atmosphere. As a result, the cool climate that citizens previously felt has gradually warmed up. In summary, unsustainability has remained the major problem in Jounieh due to a lack of awareness of the importance of sustainable development and lack of implementation of laws, especially those that protect the ecosystem in which we live. let's live. Many root causes have led to this unsustainability, such as overpopulation, pollution and deforestation. This question should be taken into consideration by the government and by the citizens themselves; otherwise the Earth will sink into a catastrophic situation: unsustainability.
