There are a large number of complex questions that invade us every day: time travel, other intelligent life forms , the end of the universe and our very creation. However, there are other mysteries, much closer to us than we think. A mysterious noise so loud that it left scientists on different continents speechless. The noise was named "The Bloop" and was added to the mysteries of the world because, even to this day, there is no concrete evidence of what caused the noise. In fact, there isn't even a single theory that has enough evidence to support it. The only thing that scientists can agree on after numerous studies is that whoever made this mysterious noise was alive. The mysterious noise was first heard in 1997 by the US Navy using the SOSUS or Sound Surveillance System. SOSUS was created to spy on the Soviet Union's maritime movements during the Cold War. The noise was heard on two separate microphones used by the Navy. The microphones were installed three thousand kilometers from each other. (Damn interesting). The audio in its original state lasted approximately two and a half minutes. It sounded like long moans. However, when the sound was sped up sixteen times faster, it created a sound similar to that of a droplet hitting water. Nicknaming him “The Bloop”. For now, scientists have no idea what it means, due to its noise level and biological origin. “The frequency of the sound meant that it must have been much louder than any recognized animal noise, including that produced by larger whales.” said a London scientist when asked what the noise might be. The noise was several times greater than any noise a blue whale can make, the largest of all known creatures on earth. (CNN)With any...... middle of paper ......3/bloop/>."• The Call of the Bloop."
