Ana Carolina Reston was a Brazilian model. She began her modeling career at the age of 13 after winning a local beauty pageant. She was a normal girl who grew up in a middle-class family. His life took a radical turn for the worse after his first trip abroad to Guangzhou, China. She went to Guangzhou for a casting, and while there, she was repeatedly told that she was "too fat." She believed what they were saying and began her downward spiral of anorexia nervosa. His diet consisted only of apples and tomatoes. She was telling her mother that she was fine and that there was nothing wrong with her. Ana would do anything to avoid talking about why she wasn't eating. His body mass index dropped to 13.4. The World Health Organization considers a body mass index of 16 to be severely underweight, which she was well below. She weighed eighty-eight pounds and was 5 feet 8 inches tall. At the age of 21, her illness became so severe that it turned into an infection and led to her death in November 2006. According to the National Institute of Health, they estimate that the lifetime prevalence of anorexia and bulimia is 0.6 percent of the U.S. adult population, but among 13 to 18 year olds it is is 2.7 percent.
