Essay / Vietnam and the Vietnam War - 866
When someone hears the word Vietnam, it usually means the Vietnam War. Contrary to what most Westerners think, Vietnam is not just about the Vietnam War. There is a long history that begins thousands and thousands of years ago. Over the past hundred years, Vietnam has developed significantly. Vietnam is run by a communist government, and like some Asian countries, they have begun to transition their economies toward capitalism. In recent years, tourism has increased, which has accelerated the development of Vietnam. Vietnam was isolated in the years following the Vietnam War, but in recent years it has begun to form relationships with other countries. Overall, Vietnam has improved its democratization, development and interconnectivity. Currently, the official name of Vietnam is the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The Communist Party of Vietnam is the founding and ruling party. This quote, from the 2013 Vietnamese Constitution, shows the control that the Communist Party exercises: “The Vietnamese Communist Party... is the leading force of the state and society. » They have all the power. This party controls the centralized government, the military and the media. Before 1945, Vietnam was still a colony. After the Second World War, France wanted to retain its Indochinese colonies, Vietnam was included in this category. Like most colonies after World War II, the Vietnamese wanted independence from France. When France tried to maintain control, it fought back. It was the first Indochina war. After that, Vietnam was divided into two parts, the North and the South, so that opposing parties could organize campaigns before elections were held. There was supposed to be elections to reunify the party...... middle of paper ...... boredom, but some relationships are very sensitive. Vietnam has come a long way from where it started. Recently, they have grown significantly. This quote from the 2012 Vietnam Development Report shows that “Vietnam has come a long way over the past 15 years in promoting the public availability of economic data and information.” Their development is directly linked to their interdependence and their progress towards democratization. Thanks to Vietnam's progression toward a more capitalist economy, their country developed. Once Vietnam established and reestablished its relations with other countries, foreign countries began to invest in the Vietnamese economy, which launched its development. Vietnam will always be associated with the Vietnam War, but we hope it will make a new name for itself through development, democratization and interconnectivity..
