  • Essay / Event Analysis: Los Angeles Clippers game - 1665

For this assignment, I chose to attend a Los Angeles Clippers game even though I am a big Lakers fan; mainly because it fit my budget better and the allure of watching this top-flight young team made it seem like it would be a good night out. Going into the game, the game was dubbed the "Battle of the Double-Doubles" as the Minnesota Timberwolves led by Kevin Love and his 28 consecutive double-doubles took on Blake Griffin and his 26 consecutive double-doubles. I had been to Staples Center before. for a handful of Lakers games, but I had never been to a Clippers game. I was very interested to see what Staples would be like and the culture it would create going to a Clippers game versus a Lakers game, despite playing in the same venue. As I walk towards the Staples Center, I notice a few things that are already different. There is a billboard with the title Clipper Nation: Rise. There are also a handful of fans wearing Lakers jerseys. For me, it was interesting to see because people in Los Angeles have created this culture around the Lakers that they are clearly the team from Los Angeles and the Clippers are just the other team that plays at Staples Center. However, this year, advertising was done not only before the game outside the arena, but also inside the arena during the game to promote this new rise of Clipper basketball. This is the new young energetic team led by Blake Griffin, the human hero. This time, at the Staples Center, they were advertising the upcoming All Star game. So they had posters and booths set up to vote for your favorite players to compete in the All Star Game. . Like all local teams, they push their fans to vote to ensure their superstar makes the game. And since this yes...... middle of paper ...... which brings people and cities together? These are questions I look forward to exploring throughout this course and the rest of my life.
