Essay / The Light at the End of Hell - 1528
The Light at the End of HellOrdinary people sometimes quit their jobs, quit school, leave their families, or unfortunately end their lives. People tend to give up on their dreams as soon as someone closes the door on them, leaving them with no hope. What one has done over the years, all the work and sweat, the sacrifices that that person has made disappears in an instant because they can no longer take the pain. People face challenges and sometimes difficulties, but it's all part of life. We complain and complain about how bad our lives are, but we never take the time to think about the wonderful results that could come once the suffering is overcome. People believe that they are victims and that they will never achieve anything because of all the fronts they face. The only alternative they seek to stop. It is the most practical and puts an end to pain and sorrows. Let's be realistic, we don't live in a utopia where we can all get what we want. Most of the time we live in a dystopia where we have to work hard and live in a society that demands a lot from us and brings us difficulties and pain. In The Consolations of Philosophy, Alain de Botton is interested in different philosophies and how society can find comfort in its sorrows. de Botton highlights the importance of going through difficulties when talking about the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche. This philosophy reflects the importance of going through hardship and how people can face their greatest fear, hardship. de Botton discusses Nietzsche's philosophy to help people understand why it is essential that people go through hell and back to be happy at the end of the day. People want what they can't have and want to know more than they should. Sometimes we give up on our dream ...... middle of paper ...... pessimism before understanding the reason. In the end, it's worth going through all the pain. Schopenhauer influenced Nietzsche's philosophy but the most significant difference is accepting tragedy and in the end there will be happiness. Even if one goes through pain, one must endure it to see the beautiful result. Life is fruitful and beautiful if we understand why we live and why we must go through pain to succeed. People should not live in a pessimistic mindset. They should be optimistic and ignore the difficulties encountered on the path of life. Nothing good comes easily to you. You have to work hard to see the result. William Shakespeare said, “All the world is a stage, and all the men and women but actors.” One is the creator and architect of life and only one can change the world around him..
