  • Essay / Analysis of the Book of Ecclesiastes and the meaning of...

What is the point of living? If you type this question into Google, you will get many of the following answers: leave a legacy, get rich, love, and explore. The only answer that often comes up is to always be satisfied. As humans, we think we can be satisfied when we have a great career, family, children, and lots of money. If we look in the Bible at the book of Ecclesiastes, we can see the story of a man who has everything he could want. I like to call them the three W's (Wisdom, Wealth, Women). Even though he had all these things, he was still not satisfied. In the first verse of Ecclesiastes, he begins by saying “Insignificant! This makes no sense!... It all makes no sense. Throughout this book we can see that the message is that all the materialistic things we want in life will never fill our life, so we must look to God and build a relationship with Him because that is only then we will be fulfilled (plus, we will be able to go to God). heaven). The author said it best: “The end of the matter; everything has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments; for this is the duty of every man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13). The book Ecclesiastes is believed to have been written by Solomon around 931 BC (Williams, 1995). Some people thought the book was written by someone else, and some thought the book was written even later than the original date. If the book was written by Solomon, that would mean he wrote it near the end of his life. This is very interesting because it directs our attention to the audience. The book is written for everyone but I think it was written especially for young people. As we are born and grow up, we always hear these words: “Don’t make the same mistake I made.” » Usually this saying is advice... middle of paper ...... proves that we as people cannot afford to waste our time on stupid things that this life has to offer. We will live on this earth for a while and then we will leave and the only thing that will matter in the end is whether we gave our lives to the Lord and whether He was number one in our lives. No wealth, wife or fame will matter because we take nothing with us when we die. There are only two options (Heaven and Hell) and how we spend our time on this earth depends on how our life is decided. Ecclesiastes is a very interesting book. Many people disagree with the author and disagree with whether or not the epilogue was supposed to be included. This is not the main point we should be looking at, but rather the message Solomon is trying to convey to us: We don't have much time on this earth, so we can't waste the time we have. given by doing crazy things.
