Essay / Data Communications: Wi-Fi Wireless Technology - 959
IntroductionWi-Fi is a wireless technology in which data is communicated between two or more Wi-Fi enabled electronic devices using microwaves . In most cases, microwaves with a frequency of 2.4 GHz are used for data communication. Wi-Fi is used to create a local area network, wireless hotspots, or even a home network. Wi-Fi technology is even used in many wireless devices such as wireless stereo headphones or wireless keyboards and mice and other computer peripherals. It has many uses, from networking to device pairing, it provides wireless connections. There are many other devices like smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc. that have a Wi-Fi client that allows them to access any Wi-Fi hotspot or hotspot -Fi to access data services or the Internet. ResearchWi-Fi is a well-known technology and works on protocols as defined by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 802.11 standards. The name Wi-Fi is used synonymously with wireless LAN or WLAN. Normally, the range of any wireless access point is a few meters, but since it runs on firmware, the range decreases with any type of obstacle such as a wall. If used in open area, the range could be extended. There are also range extenders available in the market. These range extenders combine two devices, namely a wireless client and a wireless router or access point. They receive signals from an access point and transmit them, improving network range. These extenders work like wireless repeaters. Technology Wi-Fi runs on microwaves with two widely used bands of 2.5 GHz and 5 GHz. It is based on standards according to IEEE 802.11 standards. The technology is used to transmit data packets wirelessly.
