50/50In my opinion, the story of 50/50 was well told. The film thrived in formal and stylistic elements. The film was exceptional on the formal elements of character, plot and structure. He was also good at stylistic elements such as music and cinematography. First, 50/50 was very good in the character category for formal elements. The development of the characters really struck me. The biggest surprise of this film is how the writer decided to focus the real heart of the story in the development of the characters. An example is the relationship between Adam and his young therapist Katherine. They are both too inexperienced to deal with problems like cancer. She is clearly inexperienced as Adam is one of her first patients. Their relationship should support the emotional side of an argument, rather than just the emotion. But the most important relationship is between Adam and Kyle. Now, this relationship isn't as strong as it should be, but it's enough to warm the heart and give Adam that last push to open up. There's a good scene in the movie where Adam stays at Kyle's house and finds a book about cancer survivorship, filled with notes and underlines, proving that Kyle cares about Adam and is worried about him. The next day, as Kyle drops Adam off at the hospital, Adam hugs Kyle as a good friend. It’s a superb display of subtle character development. Second, 50/50 had a very good plot and structure. I thought it was very well written. While researching some facts about the movie, I found out that it was based on a true story. The person the film is based on is also the writer. Personally, I believe that a good story can also come from an experience like surviving cancer. ...... middle of paper ...... macaroons. The frame was a bit flimsy and the image was blurry. It was like you were high with Adam. In conclusion, 50/50 has formal and stylistic elements. Claudia Puig of USA Today said, "50/50 convincingly demonstrates that deep emotion and varied humor can coexist in the same film, just as they do in real life." » This film makes you laugh and can really make you cry. It's a great film that shows that you can't go through something this serious alone. It takes two and maybe more. A good film is a story worth telling and one that is told well. 50/50 is a beautiful story written firsthand by someone who experienced the film. The writer puts us into his shows and the director does a great job depicting everything. The music, cinematography, characters and plot all blended together to create a great story that made you laugh and cry..
