Fashion is a knowledge organization based on restricted access to goods and services. The fashion industry offers a functionalist perspective to Bourdieu's field theory and the critical divisions reproduced within it. With reference to three case studies, an explanatory overview of the fashion field, particularly in terms of participants within hierarchical boundaries, the culture required to join the field and the marks of distinction associated with clothing, will be empirically argued to better understand this phenomenon. macro-structural concept that exists within society. Ultimately, Bourdieu's usefulness for contemporary fashion will be demonstrated. London Fashion Week (LFW) is a manifestation of an area within the fashion industry. The term “field” can be defined as an analytical concept used to map an individual's preferences, actions, and social practices (Bourdieu, 1997). Bourdieu's field theory provided a functionalist perspective to an explanatory overview of the fashion field, particularly in terms of participants within the boundaries and hierarchical system of the fashion industry. The clothing choices made by individuals are closely linked to the self-concept and are used as a means of self-expression. Ultimately, clothing has a function in role fulfillment and can be considered an essential social tool in the lives of individuals around the world..
