Interest groups vary greatly in size, goals, and tactics. Political interest groups engage in activities such as political action, provision of materials, information exchange, and cooperation. Any form of political action is the most direct method, it can force voting and campaigning to influence the selection and action of political authorities. The provision of material resources provides wealth to political actors, this manner is illegal depending on the wealth and services offered to political personnel for a desired outcome. Information exchange is also used by private groups to help actors in the political system obtain special information that they would likely not be able to receive on their own.
