Every good baker understands that to prepare an appetizing cake, you need a spectacular recipe. The same goes for writing an effective essay. Without experimentation, the right mix of ingredients and the right baking time, neither a successful cake nor a successful trial can be produced. It takes practice and repetition before choosing the tools needed for a recipe. During my time at WRD 104, I acquired the necessary ingredients to prepare my own formula to create an impeccable composition. I have been toning old skills, while learning and developing new ones that can be added to my writing recipe. Despite some frustrations and challenges, I feel like I left this class a stronger writer. Through the learning objectives of the first-year writing program, I developed and learned the effectiveness of skills such as writing multiple drafts, integrating my own as well as others, and the editing process. I understand that I have not yet found the perfect recipe for writing, but through my hard work and determination to improve as a writer through the skills I have acquired through the learning outcomes, I think I got a low "A" on WRD 104. .The first step in baking a cake is experimenting with the right ingredients. However, it takes several attempts before finding the exact recipe for this delicious cake. As I learned in WRD 104, the same goes for writing an essay. Several drafts are necessary before finally writing a clear and concise draft. In previous classes, each time an essay was assigned, I usually wrote a single draft with the mentality of covering everything that needed to be said. However, I didn't realize that I was writing poor essays that failed to really dive into the middle of the paper......and make changes. After all, any good recipe takes practice. A baker's most valuable tool for making this delicious cake is the recipe. This is the general plan of what needs to be done to achieve the desired results. Just like the baker, my recipe for writing an essay is very popular. Although my time at WRD was quick, I gained a lot of knowledge that I can take with me into the future. Through the challenges I faced throughout the course, I was pushed and motivated to become a better writer. Writing may not be my strong suit yet, but I am a much more sophisticated writer than I was at the start of the term. I discovered and acquired the ingredients necessary for my writing. Although I would like to get an "A" in this course, I will be satisfied and grateful for any grade I receive, as I am proud of the progress in preparing my recipe.
