    How important is the quality of education in America to its citizens? Although it may seem obvious, this question may not have a very clear answer. The traditional classroom education that this country has followed for hundreds of years is under threat from electronic domination. Not that classrooms are becoming more technologically advanced, but that they are being replaced by online classes from home. Unfortunately, many students enrolled are not enrolled because they need this type of education, but rather because they are doing so out of sheer convenience. The problem with all of this is that people are so impressed by the possibilities that they forget that homeschooling is not necessarily the best environment for education. While convenience may be important to many Americans today, the potential downsides of an online education for a young student are not worth its possible benefits. One of the most often overlooked aspects of education is the social skills learned over the years in a classroom. It goes without saying that school is largely responsible for how a student develops socially. In an article that discusses the obstacles faced by students enrolled in distance education, Jill Galusha shares this view, stating: "The 'remote' aspect of distance education takes away much of the social interaction that would be present in traditional learning environments” (Galusha 4 ). Even in the face of this evidence, we don't always understand the disadvantages of not being in a classroom full of students. Teamwork skills will develop much more slowly, if at all, and the ability to simply interact socially with a peer or student of the opposite sex may become greatly underdeveloped. .ance Learners?"
