Australia already experiences huge economic disparities, where there is a very large gap between the rich and the poor. Australian citizens are the main stakeholders in the Medicare system. It is therefore expected that a supplement will have a negative impact on the standard of living. Efficiency, equity, and quality should be the primary goals of Medicare. Essentially, Medicare should ensure that in all its policies it strives to provide payments and services at a very equitable operating level. It should also show beneficiaries the value of their money through efficiency in the delivery of their services and quality in terms of standards of their services as well as their results. The fact that the system is financed mainly by progressive taxation has guaranteed fairness; however, this is what mainly led to economic difficulties
