Teen pregnancy is a problem for teenage girls all over America. Many of these parents are not financially ready to have a child. Although the motivations for having children at such a young age are unclear, the risks and consequences are clear. There is a link between teenage parenthood and dropping out of school. There are also medical problems among teenage mothers and their children. On the bright side, there are ways to continue to improve adolescent girls' reproductive decisions. According to Chung, “parenting is one of the leading causes of adolescent girls dropping out of school. In fact, this is true for 30% of all adolescent girls, with minorities having higher rates (36% for Hispanic girls and 38% for African American girls). A third of these mothers will not obtain a diploma or GED, compared to six percent of adolescents who have not procreated (Saras). One positive aspect of teen pregnancy is that rates have been steadily declining since 1990, with the exception of hiccups in 2005 and 2006 (Stanley J.
