Essay / Living a Lie - 1185
I was home alone. My mother was at work, she was a single mother taking care of three children and she couldn't do much. My siblings were 2 and 7 and I was 9. My 2 year old brother was sleeping in his bed. My 7 year old sister was taking a shower and I was sitting on the living room couch watching TV. Then there was a knock on the door, and I stood there for a minute and turned off the TV. Then there was a knock again and I got scared, got up from the couch, stood at the door and tried to peek through the peephole to see if it was anyone one that I recognized. My mother always told me to never open the door when you're home alone. But since I was old enough to watch my siblings, I thought I was old enough to recognize when there was danger and when there wasn't. After a minute of silence, the person outside tried to knock down the door. I tried to run away as quickly and as quietly as possible. I ran into my brother's room and got him and as my sister was coming out of the shower I ran into the bathroom and we all stayed there until the person left. My sister; Macy was trying to ask why we were all in there,” I whispered softly, “Shut up. She didn't make a sound and neither did I. Then my little brother woke up because I was shaking and he started crying. The thief heard us and started walking towards the bathroom and I took out my phone trying to dial 911 and my hands were too fidgety and I dropped the phone as he kicked in the door. He looked at us and I didn't know what to do as I was pulled by the arm with my siblings behind me. We were all crying. He pulled us to his car. We sat there until he finished stealing everything he could profit from. I was petrified because for more time... middle of paper ...... the transaction was complete, I asked Mr. Bridge if he could please take us home even though he was a thief and might have wanted to spend more time with us, I didn't hate him, he wasn't that bad a person, he just wanted love. After about 35 minutes the man took us back to the house and let me see my mother. I opened the door and jumped into my mother's arms and gave her the best love I could handle, I will never take anything for granted again. It's okay, I forgive you for everything, there is no reason to be sad. I wasn't mad at you anymore once I hung up, I realized it was just me and my pettiness that got me in trouble again. Well you'll never have to worry again, I quit my position as store manager so I can become a regular employee, or even an assistant manager, which gives me less hours so I can see you more, the children. Thank you mom I love you more than ever.
