    Jesus sacrificed his own life for everyone's sins in order to obtain redemption, allowing his disciples to obtain forgiveness. In the novel The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, Amir realized that he must risk his own life to free himself and his father from their sins. Amir desired to be reborn into a new life, but he did not know how to live a sinless life. When it comes to the poem Redemption by James Casey, Amir was also running and hiding from his problems. Running away to California with his father didn't give Amir the refreshing start he had hoped for. Amir's desires included: redemption for wronging Hassan, approval from his father, and overall acceptance and forgiveness. Amir longed for redemption for the wrongs he had caused to his childhood friend, Hassan. Seeing his friend and half-brother being raped without intervening, Amir felt forever guilty. Unable to overcome the traumatic event, Amir frames and pushes Hassan away. Amir was selfish for not resisting Hassan's rape. He thought he needed the kite that Hassan was being abused for to gain love and respect. ...
