Essay / Transformational Leadership or Transactional Leadership - 1764
IntroductionOver the past twenty years, much research has been done to examine transformational leadership and transactional leadership. Burn (1978) was the first person to introduce and conceptualize the concepts of transformational leadership and transactional leadership. Bass (1985) built on Burn's concept and expanded upon his notion with modifications that one of the best leadership frameworks is transformational or transactional. Following this, Bass and Avolio (1994, p. 4) presented the idea of these two leaderships and generalized them to the development of the global economic world. Bass and Avolio (1997) also suggest that there is no need to view transformational and transactional leadership as opposing paths or leaderships when we apply them to our management. Recently, researchers have begun to become more interested in studying the relationship between these two leaderships and looking for the influences and correlation with other characteristics, such as personality, performance and pro-leadership behavior. effectiveness (Hartnell & Walumbwa, 2011, p. 225; Rowld & Rohmann, 2009, p. 42; Bono and judge, 2004, p. 901; Eeden, Cilliers and Deventer, 2008, p.
