Chad is a very extreme and impressive country because of its lifestyle and the way they celebrate things is very interesting. I also think their geography and history is very amazing.HistoryThe French first arrived in Chad in 1891, after multiple problems with the local leaders, the French fought a warlord named Rabih Zubar Fadlallah. On April 22, 1900, at the Battle of Kousseri, the French won and Rabih was killed. Certain civilizations and kingdoms rose and fell over the next thousand years. Upon Chad's independence in 1960, Chadians elected François Tombalbaye as president. The policies he created angered Muslims and many other groups; then the army assassinated him in 1975. Then there was a rebel leader, named Hissène Habré, who became president in 1892. His reign was characterized by extreme cruelty towards his enemies; and it killed around 40,000 people. In 1990, army Colonel Idress Deby seized power from Habré, who fled into exile in Senegal. Chadians agreed to develop a new constitution and voted in the 1996 presidential elections. Deby won the election and planned to seek re-election in mid-2001. With help from the French and the United States, Chad waged a war against Libya. Ownership of the Aozou Strip, an oil- and uranium-rich desert strip on the Chad-Libya border, was in danger. Libya withdrew most of its army from the Aozou Strip in 1988 and withdrew completely in 1994 when the International Court of Justice noticed Chad's territorial claim.Religion/Culture/LifestyleDay of the Chad's independence is August 11...... middle of paper ......the processing of raw cotton provides employment for many people. Few people work in mills or make items such as beer, clothing, sugar cubes, and cigarettes. In Chad, there are only 5 Internet hosts. 13,000 telephones and 918,400 mobile telephones were sold.Flora and faunaAnimal and plant life corresponds to the three climatic zones. In the Saharan corner, the only flora is that of the date palm orchards of the oases. Palm trees and acacias also grow in the Sahel region.
