Essay / Homeless - 942
Malala Yousafzai advocated for the education of young Pakistani women, despite strong opposition from the Taliban. She declared that “education is a right for every human being.” Unfortunately, many children around the world do not have access to education, leading to a host of poverty-related problems. These problems cannot simply be ignored. This is why I would decide to end some of the world's major problems. Three issues I would work to address in particular are homelessness, lack of clean water, and lack of educational services in developing countries. Homelessness is the number one global problem I would focus on eradicating. The scale of the homeless problem is enormous. The annual Homeless Assessment Report reveals that more than 1 million Americans are homeless today. Additionally, the National Alliance to End Homelessness said homeless shelters are not equipped to accommodate the growing number of homeless people today. It is necessary that we seek permanent solutions to reduce the effects of homelessness in society. If I had the power to change modern society as the prompt states, then that implies that I have the financial resources to do so. This is why I would advocate for building additional shelters to help the homeless. Being homeless exposes you to the elements and acts of violence. Violence against homeless people is a particularly serious problem. In fact, according to the Task Force to End Homelessness, about four in ten homeless people will be victims of a violent attack while homeless. When you don't have a place to call home, you often have no shelter from the elements. Storms become a major problem rather than a minor nuisance, as they are for many people. The fact that many homeless people are... middle of paper ...... people, improving access to education is one thing I would change. Homelessness, lack of clean water, and poor access to quality education around the world are issues I would focus on solving if I could change three things. First, with more than a million Americans experiencing homelessness today, we must work to change this abject situation. While millions of children die every year from lack of clean water, we are not doing enough. Therefore, I would work to increase access to clean water. Finally, because education is necessary to give hope to children in developing countries, it is important to increase their access to quality education. Malala Yousafzai emphasized the importance of education as an activist and worked to reduce the problems of the developing world. Fighting to solve the problems of the developing world will be essential to global success in the future..
