Essay / Addressing the Problem of Illegal Immigration - 1011
It is said that immigrants come to this country for a better life, so that is what they should try to do for themselves. In most cases, they end up in low-paid, dead-end jobs. If you come to the United States for a better life, you should make efforts to improve yourself rather than settling for pain. Most immigrants tend to work in blue-collar jobs that don't require much other human interaction. “While the U.S. government goes to great lengths to prevent people from entering the country illegally, many U.S. employers continually demonstrate their eagerness to give them work. » (Crest 72) Many immigrants rely on government assistance such as welfare and food stamps. Immigrants who rely on government assistance tend to irritate people because they feel like illegal immigrants are using the taxes they pay to live their lives without paying their own taxes. Trump suggests building a wall, but I don't think that will work very well to stop the influx of immigrants, they will find other ways to enter our great country. Some argue that immigrants perform tasks that most Americans would not want to do themselves, at a much lower rate of pay. Often, illegal immigrants are paid below the minimum wage because employers are not required to register them as employees. Many illegal immigrants often work in the construction sector, gardening, roofing, concreting, cleaning, etc. This is because most of them constitute difficult work or are considered blue-collar work that often does not pay enough to support a family. This being said, they often have to work more than the average native.
