    Have you ever wondered whether or not there is a correlation between gender and university major? We conducted a survey of 105 people (51 men and 54 women) and of those people, 34.3% (17 men and 19 women) did not think there was a direct correlation between the two. Our objective was to see if gender actually influenced the choice of specialty or if it had no influence. After proper investigation and extensive literature analysis, we found that both male and female students generally have academic majors concentrated in certain fields and industries. major choice. Our survey results showed that the majority of participants believe that textiles and psychology are the most popular subjects for women. The majority of participants said they thought the most popular major for men was engineering. This indicates that people are aware of the gender gap between specializations. We found that out of our sample of 105 participants, only one woman was in engineering and one of the most popular majors for women was textiles. We found literature that supported the results of our investigation. The article titled “Quantified Inequality: Beware the Gender Gap” shows that an established gender gap among college students may have started years ago. In the 1970s, Lynne Kiorpes was one of the few women at Northeastern University to major in engineering. Her teacher discriminated against her and the few other women in the class by saying that they had no business being in his class and that he was going to fail them simply because they were women.
