  • Essay / What is happiness? - 680

Some people say that happiness is only temporary. But are these people right? Is there eternal happiness? In the words of Don Draper: “What is happiness? The previous moment, you need more happiness! This statement causes us to think about these questions and our position on the matter. I find it easy to agree with Mr. Draper, but I can't help but wonder if anyone will ever know a happiness that has never faded. For those who believe in it, one could find unadulterated happiness once they arrive in heaven to spend eternity in peace. However, do we really have to wait to die for this? We could say that happiness may always be with us, but we forget it because we tend to focus more on our oppression. However, I think we confuse temporary happiness with true happiness. For me, there is a common and ephemeral exaltation and a rare and true happiness. Happy people tend to be ambitious, humble, confident, and don't let their fears limit or control them. Happiness is a central theme in some religious teachings such as Buddhism. In these teachings, ultimate happiness is “achieved only by overcoming envy in all its forms.” Buddhism encourages kindness, compassion and joy for all beings. In other religious teachings like Catholicism, “perfect happiness” is only achieved in the afterlife. So, according to these beliefs, our joy is limited, no matter what we do. Is it even possible to “overcome envy in all its forms?” » I don't think this means we have to constantly work to find contentment. As for “perfect happiness,” I agree that such a thing does not exist here on Earth. Although I believe there are such things that this is true rather than limited. Thomas Jefferson so intelligently...... middle of paper ...... time and the other type, more permanent and true. I think both depend on us to achieve them. The limited one only takes away the pain for a little while, leaving us to wait for its return. We end up not feeling satisfied and go through this cycle from sad to happy. There is, however, a happiness that can end this cycle, but it depends on us to find it. It’s something that, once it happens, you know it; a type of joy that is rare and worth it. As Thomas Jefferson wrote, it is a pursuit of happiness. True happiness won't be handed to you and it won't be easy, but I think that's the beauty of it. Finding something greater than what you have ever known and having something that will never disappoint you is the ultimate goal that people hope to achieve one day. They just need to understand the difference between fleeting or rare happiness..
