    Sociology is part of everyday life. People experience sociological changes when they get married, find a new job, or experience discrimination. All of these things can change a person's perspective on a group of people or even the world. Since starting this course, I have personally experienced several sociological changes in my life. I recently started a new job. I meet new and wonderful people and I no longer fear having to go to work. I also started planning my wedding to the one girl who I know will make each day better than the last. But the case that perhaps had the most profound impact on me was that of my parents' divorce. This is something that happened over a decade ago, but still torments me today. For a moment I thought we had a perfect family unit. Everyone was happy and everyone got along well. Then the next thing I knew, my parents were in court every day trying to get custody of my older sister and myself. It left me hurt and confused. The worst was after the divorce. My dad got custody of us, which I preferred because it meant I didn't have to move and didn't have to live with my mom's new boyfriend (her boyfriend when she was bride). My mother had visitation rights two days a week and every Sunday. So instead of seeing my mother every day when she got home from work and letting her tuck me in in the evening, I only saw her three times a week. It was the...
