    “Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, for the people” (Lincoln), while dictatorship is a form of government operating under a single regime. man. In other words, democracy distributes power among people and dictatorship centralizes power under one person. Since partition, Pakistan has faced several democratic and dictatorial governments, but it still hesitates between the two forms of government. Opinions on whether democracy or dictatorship is better for Pakistan vary from person to person. However, this problem cannot be solved by emotional discourse; rather logical explanations and precise evidence are necessary to obtain the best possible conclusion. Although many argue that Pakistan benefits from being ruled by a democratic government, this is not the case due to ineffective decision-making in democratic governments, high illiteracy rate in Pakistan, transparent electoral system and the diversity of Pakistan's social fabric. Firstly, in a democratic government, decisions are taken slowly, based on personal gains and voter satisfaction and not for the prosperity of the people and the betterment of the country, while in a dictatorship, decision making is efficient and fast. Decisions are made to promote progress in a country. In a democratic government, decisions are usually made for political purposes and the main purpose of a decision is to attract people's attention. In fact, decision-making authority is used as a tool to gain more votes. Additionally, supporters' areas are prioritized for progressive projects while opponents' areas are ignored, leading to social instability.
