Under the vastness of the ancient trees and the constantly rushing sky, my place of contentment can be found. It's a place for arthropod researchers, weather forecasters, deer watchers, rain pants, and the occasional educational Star Wars discussion. This place may look like a few dozen cabins and a dining hall, but the Outdoor School is so much more than that. Camp Howard Outdoor School is located in the Douglas Fir Forest of Corbett, Oregon. This is a program that provides a week of outdoor education to sixth form classes. While sixth grade students participate in a week of hands-on learning, the program is also offered to secondary school students. We have the opportunity to go to these forest campsites and give lessons. Although not everyone enjoys living in cabins with snoring twelve year olds and trying to guide them through the forest during torrential rains, I love it.
