In The Great Gatsby, Gatsby finds himself in a sticky situation and can't get out of it. He is having an affair with a married woman whom he loves very much. He is not the only character in the book to find himself in this situation. Most of the main characters have affairs. This causes all the characters to engage in physical altercations. Gatsby and the other main characters go through a physical journey that ultimately ends in fatal tragedies due to their affairs with each other's lover.
