  • Essay / Negative Essay: The Effects of Watching Too Much...

Some people may decide to spend their free time watching television for entertainment, ignoring the fact that they are also missing out on their family time. Television can become so addictive that people devote all their attention to it and neglect communications with their parents, children, siblings, partners, etc. We choose to sit alone on a couch instead of hanging out with the people we love. we don't see each other as often, talk to a friend on the phone, or have dinner with our family to share each other's day. It may seem unreal, but if we waste our time watching too much TV, it can lead to a lack of communication between the people we love. Without knowing it, we could distance ourselves from them and affect the relationship we have built. I can definitely say that because I have experienced it in my past. When I was younger, my favorite thing about coming home from school was that I was free to do whatever I wanted after I had done my homework and household chores. I choose to sit on my couch and watch TV the rest of the evening most days. My parents started to notice that I was spending too much time watching TV, but I always denied it and thought there was no such thing as “too much.” Eventually my relationship with my parents started to deteriorate and I noticed that I was no longer communicating with them.
